NJ Man Posed As Religious Solicitor To Meet ‘13-Year-Old’ In PA: Police

A New Jersey man who used the KIK app to groom what he believed to be a 13-year-old Pennsylvania girl was caught in a police sting when he arrived at her home dressed as a religious solicitor, authorities announced on Thursday, Feb. 20.

Oscar Castillo-Peralta, 53, of Pleasantville, NJ, began chatting with the decoy account on KIK on Jan. 30, according to Bensalem police. The conversation quickly turned sexual, and Castillo-Peralta sent nude photos of himself while describing explicit acts he wanted to perform with the teen, investigators said.

Over the next few weeks, he moved the conversation to text messages and arranged to meet the girl in Bensalem, PA, on Wednesday, Feb. 19, when she would be alone, police said. To avoid suspicion, he planned to wear a suit, carry religious materials, and knock on neighbors’ doors first, authorities detailed.

Instead, when he arrived at 1:30 p.m., Bensalem police took him into custody.

Castillo-Peralta was charged with attempted involuntary sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors, and related offenses. He was arraigned by District Justice Joseph Falcone and remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10% of $3,000,000 bail.

Bensalem police are actively investigating online child predators and urge anyone with information about Castillo-Peralta to call 215-633-3719.
